Sleeve Notes
To excel in any field of entertainment is, undoubtedly, an achievement but the ability to consistently maintain excellence is indicative of some rarer talent. Paddy Reilly, the man from Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, has such a talent. What he does, he does superbly and with a characteristic enthusiasm; he is an artiste in the real sense of the word and it is not difficult to understand why this singer of Irish Ballads has been such a phenomenal success on both sides of the Atlantic.
This is Paddy's fourth album for Dolphin Records. We have been At Home with Paddy Reilly, shared the Life of Paddy Reilly and visited with him The Town I Loved so Well.
In this latest selection Paddy moves with consummate ease from the lively and boisterous "The Crack was Ninety in the Isle of Man" to the gentle sadness of "This Town is not Their Own"; from the haunting and classic "Jim Larkin" to the poignant nostalgia of "Farewell to Dublin" — which, incidentally, was penned by a member of the Wolfe Tones. Also included is "Dancing at Whitsun", which is one of Paddy's most successful numbers whenever, and wherever, it is performed. "Bunclody" also receives the distinctive Reilly treatment while the title track "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore" conjures up all the real magic and the true friendly warmth of Irish firesides. This album, then, reveals Paddy Reilly's talent at it's rarest and best and is a finely-balanced blend of the sensitivity, originality and style which has become the hallmark of this balladeer from "Our Own Green Shamrock Shore"!
